calcaire (2023)
Calcaire is an acousmatic piece inspired by the formation of limestone, which shapes the soil of the Famenne region in Belgium, as well as by the rich sound palette that emerges from this landscape.
The work unfolds in three movements:
Intempéries — soil erosion and the transport of its debris to the depths of the sea.
Diagenesis — accumulation of sediment over the years.
The Walk — the formation of a porous ground which, under the constant presence of water, deteriorates in cyclical processes.
"Reflecting on this natural cycle, I draw an analogy with life itself: over the years, we accumulate objects, thoughts, beliefs, and habits, the rock, the body, always subject to transformations that occur slowly and almost imperceptibly. Water, like the soul, is a force in permanent flow, shaping and reshaping us over time."
Calcaire has been presented at festivals such as BOEM (Ghent) and Electrobelge (Brussels). In 2024, it was funded by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, received an honorable mention at the Musica Nova Festival (Prague, 2023), and was awarded Best Composition at the Métamorphoses Competition, as part of the Festival L’Espace du Son (Brussels, 2024).
